This installation was completed the fall of 2008 and is using dual fuel.

Walt sent us a letter stating:
"My home is a single story ranch over crawlspace, wood construction with vinyl siding. The front of my home faces east. I have 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, eat in kitchen, laundry room, great room, dining room, sun room. All the rooms have cathedral ceilings except 1 bedroom, kitchen, laundry, and 2 baths. The interior walls are 8 Ft 10 in high. The total size of my home is approx 2400 Sq. Ft and is about 6 years old. Because of the high cost of LP gas I needed to do something to cut my energy bills. I chose the RCS because I didn’t have to drill expensive wells or dig up my yard for a Geo-Thermal System. This has proven to be the right decision when I compare my utility bills with my neighbors with his new Geo-Thermal ground loop system. The original heating & air conditioning equipment consist of a 10 SEER, 5 ton Rheem air conditioner unit with 120,000 Btu Rheem, 91 AFLU rated propane furnace. I replaced the air conditioning system with an Aqua Products Company RCS-060A-S1A (MAX) 5 ton 18 SEER Reverse Cycle Chiller. The RCS was built using a York Affinity YZH 2 speed air source heat pump. This system was designed and installed as a dual fuel system by simply installing a special designed 5 ton cased water coil under my existing propane furnace, along with 50 gallon buffer tank and pump. System operation: Installed and rewired my current system so the Aqua Products RCS-MAX will operate as my primary source of heat with the gas furnace acting as my backup heat source if the heat pump would ever fail. This was done because the furnace was only 6 years old and there would be less invasion of the original system and wiring. The new system WAS installed early Dec. 2008. The water temperature was set at 120 F with 2 F differential first stage and 4 F differentials for the second stage. After two weeks we dropped water temperature down to 110 F with same differentials. We average 40 F to 50 F day time outdoor temperatures and 25 F to 30 F night-times. So trying to save more money I dropped the water temperature down to 108 F where it is still at today. I also turned off my LP Gas back-up heating completely before we had our cold winter temperatures.
Our outdoor temperatures changed dramatically ranging from 20 F daytime high down to 7.5 F night-time lows. My new system held water temperatures at the set point of 108 F. The indoor temperature of my home held a constant 70 F that I had my thermostat set at. The indoor temperature never fluctuated from the 70 F. The quality of the heat was actually better than my LP gas furnace without the hot or cold feelings we experienced with just the LP furnace. The RCS-MAX keeps our home comfortable without the need for any backup heating even when the outside temperatures have fallen down to 7.5 F. We also noticed that the humidity level in our house holds at 43% to 46% without the need for the humidifier to run on our gas furnace. We are extremely satisfied with the systems performance and high consistent indoor comfort levels.
I would highly recommend the RCS-MAX air source heat pump to anyone looking at purchasing a new energy efficient total electric heat pump system. Aqua Products Company has been there for me and has been willing to help my heating contractor with quick professional guidance and service. I LOVE MY RCS-MAX AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMP EVEN AT 7.5º F OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE.
